Aircraft Spins Uncontrollably into Palm Fronds at Frequented Southern California Beach
A helicopter soaring near a crowded coastal beach abruptly began spiraling uncontrollably, finally dropping height and crashing into a line of palm fronds as beachgoers looked on.
Videos shared online capture the aircraft commencing to spiral near Huntington Beach then descending near the border of the beach, where it becomes wedged amidst palm trees and a set of stairs close to the shoreline route.
Rescue Operation Information
Emergency responders said five persons were transported to a medical facility including two who were in the chopper and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” after the accident on Saturday.
Three people on the pavement were injured. Specifics on their wounds were not yet released.
The cause of the crash was still under investigation.
