Arise, Sir David: Football Legend Honoured by King Charles at Windsor Castle Ceremony

David Beckham was bestowed with a honorary title at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. The ex-national team leader, fifty, was one of the individuals receiving awards for his contributions to athletics and philanthropy. In recent months, he expressed he was “extremely honored” of being acknowledged in the monarch's annual honors list.

Soccer Achievements

Beckham made his Premier League debut for Manchester United in the mid-nineties and was part of the team that secured a thrilling Champions League final victory in 1999 when they beat Bayern Munich with last-minute strikes.

Overall, he netted 85 goals and garnered accolades including six Premier League titles and two FA Cups as a soccer professional, before ending his playing career in the past decade. Alongside his football career, he has backed a number of charity causes, including acting as a goodwill ambassador for humanitarian aid organisation Unicef since 2005.

Philanthropy and Beyond

Last year, Beckham, who has described himself as a “huge royalist”, was named an ambassador for the King’s Foundation, an educational charity founded by the King in 1990. In 1998 he was named most stylish man of the year by a leading publication and he has modelled for companies such as H&M, Armani, and Boss.

Beckham married his wife Victoria in the turn of the millennium and the couple have four children together – their eldest, Romeo, Cruz, and their daughter.
