Diving into a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Turdy Character with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have discovered a variety of entertaining independent titles. But, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game features a protagonist that is literally a dung attempting to travel to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

Player controls is straightforward: just use a one button to leap. Across one hundred fifty challenges, battle boss fights and unlock a store to acquire outfits for your poop character.

Plan your jumps with caution, as a mistake forces starting over. Bounce off bubbles to propel the poop to new heights, navigate crumbling ledges, and interact with switches to open hidden paths. Earn coins for buying tougher game content where gameplay gets crazy.

Graphically, the game boasts vibrant level designs and an amazing background music. The simple graphics of morphing basic polygons could recall players of beloved games like Earthbound.

Even though hard to recall similar titles where you are a piece of feces, video games often included fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can craft throwables from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as fertilizer. Naturally, this theme is present extensively in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already earned significant recognition, including taking top honors at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is accessible currently on Steam, with the complete version planned to debut on Steam in the fall.
